My electricity bill in Ghent is abnormal. I came here to consult before leaving get off work yesterday. The customer service representative was Pete. He was very warm and friendly and explained the reason in detail. Pete also called us after get off work to let us know what they would do next. Thank you very much for Pete's help!

This company is shady and constantly raising their rates. They will over charge you based on inaccurate "estimates" meter reads. I was charged for a year based on the previous owners of my house. Not the actual usage. You have to call and fix it every month. Overall, the billing is always in accurate. I pay less in the Bk then a week spent upstate.

Horrible customer service! They physically changed my meter to smart meter (I never agreed to this) then suddenly my bills x3 from previous actual read. Called customer service agent who agreed something wrong so she requested investigation - really rude and obviously not technically trained came to house today and did NOT even look at the meter- he said exposed wires and need to hire my own electrician- I tried to correct his information because NYSEG is the one who installed the wiring and the meter!!!!! He was wrong! NYSEG hired 3rd party Orange County to repair lines several years ago so TRUTH is NYSEG did the wiring and NYSEG put in the smart meter!!!!! I am extremely angry and I want a resolution to this OR ELSE!!!!!

Worst company of all time. I have bills on e-pay and paperless billing so I don’t have to worry about the electric bills being paid every month. I recently received a bill for 2 months of service at once ($362), weird but I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I decided to pay the bill in 2 installments, half 1 week and the other half the next week. I paid half the first week and by the time the second week came around I was charged another $300 on top of what I originally paid. Again, gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured it was a clerical error. Called them and when I spoke to someone I was told I would be returned $362. This didn’t sound right and when I questioned it, even the customer service rep was super confused by my bills and after speaking to their boss to figure out what happened, I was told NYSEG as a company did not generate bills for their customers for the months of Aug, Oct and Nov and I now had to pay all 3 months at once. When I refused, I was transferred to the customer “care” dept (parenthesis are because they don’t really care at all).

The rep then proceeded to tell me that it was my responsibility as a customer to ensure that NYSEG was taking out the money. How is it the customer’s responsibility to make sure the company is doing their job? Why even have a billing dept if they’re not doing their job. Why are they charging us all of these services fees then if they can’t even do their jobs. They also do this every year, as it happened last year as well around the holidays. How could they send customers such large bills around the holidays and claim they care about them. I’ve heard multiple customers complain about the same thing, with customers bills totaling up $1800.

NYSEG, if you read this, you truly do not care about your customers if this is the way you treat them. Sad part is they have no competition so its not like you can go to another company. We’re stuck with them. I will be filing complaints with the New York State Public Service Commission and the Better Business Bureau.

overpaid my bill and the money was donated to project share. In 8 years, they always have put it towards my next bill. A lot of people accidentally overpay or sometimes do it on purpose knowing it will go towards the next bill. It shouldn’t be automatically donated, there should be a box to check so you know you’re donating money. Shabby way to get money, but otherwise service has been good.

Lousy company NYSEG. They have gotten as greedy as Con Edison with the closing of the nuclear power plant hiring more meter readers that patrol your neighbor hood to make sure they get every last penny from you. I see meter reader cars every other day in my neighbor hood. And don't over pay by accident on the phone app, there no cancel transaction function and they won't refund your money. You have to go through your bank to get it back.
