I'm ftm and the staff was horrible to me on the phone. I couldn't understand her so she got angry and I told her to calm down so she said no white person tells her to calm down and she took me off the waiting list and hung up on me. I'm not sure why the Dr would keep someone on the staff that is incredibly rude and lost me as a patient. I called back and kept getting her so I went somewhere else and the staff was normal and curtious. I wouldn't recommend going there when there's capable gender surgeons elsewhere.

I didn’t want to believe the bad reviews about scheduling and lack of organization but they’re all true. I called in March, scheduled an October consultation and was told surgery gets scheduled 3-6 months after. Early July my appointment was moved to late November, not ideal but no big deal. I received another call about a week later moving my appointment to end of December and then informed surgery would be scheduled “roughly 12 months” after consultation. Truly disheartening has gender affirming care can be life or death for some. If you’re looking to schedule ftm top surgery Id make this office your last option.

Dr Schecter and his staff have been absolutely wonderful. They have been transparent and patient through my entire journey. They even care enough to make sure I check in when I fly home so they know I made it safe.

Just want to say that since his move to Rush, I think most of the issues in previous reviews are gone. His team is awesome! Responsive, friendly, knowledgeable, overall great! The surgery went amazingly and the surgeons came in to check on while I was in the hospital. Also my stay in the hospital was amazing.

EDITED: After trying and failing to find a better option after my previous experience and frustration with this office, I tried again and found that the new staff and general organization here seems to be leaps and bounds better. I will update this review as things happen, but I had a much more positive experience, and also got scheduled much sooner than I had been the first time.

I read all these reviews before scheduling a consult, and decided that I could put up with bad communication for a good surgeon. Do not make the same mistake. I regularly had to call to remind them to respond to my emails, waited 6 months for a consult I drove 6 hours for, and showed up to discover that he had moved hospitals. My appointment had been canceled, and they called once to tell me that. Previously I had only ever received communications form them via email, which I had been checking religiously for news. I even kept receiving emails from the hospital about their patient portal as if I was still a patient there. Do not go to this doctor unless you are willing to wait months only for your appointment to be canceled with minimal notice.

Don't waste your time, and please look elsewhere! I waited over eight months to see Dr. Loren Schechter with very high hopes, and he completely dismissed me. I've seen three gynecologists, and they all felt the painful scar tissue in the vaginal canal; I've seen three physical therapists, and they all felt the painful scar tissue in the vaginal canal; I’ve seen pain management, and nothing has helped. Not only that, but I have seen a psychologist for a couple of years on a regular basis, and he ruled that I was mentally stable and that my depression is caused by the scar tissue in my vaginal canal. My PCP even did an exam, and she even felt this scar tissue. Whenever I saw Dr. Loren Schechter, I had high hopes that he was going to be able to remove the scar tissue, but instead he wasted my time. Before I left Chicago after my appointment, I saw his physical therapist. What she told me was that I went further than she would have made any of her patients go before recommending a revision, and she also told me that she was going to tell Dr. Schechter that there was nothing else she would recommend for me to do because I already did everything she would recommend and that she was going to tell him that she would refer me for a revision. I cannot get the dilator past the first dot, and according to him, that is more than enough depth. I can't even dilate without excruciating pain, and I cannot even have penetrative sex at all. This man is heartless and does not want to help patients with revision work. After speaking to Jacob and the nurse six months before my appointment, they both said he does revision work from other doctors, but instead I get turned away with no answers from Dr. Schechter.  The sad part is that I signed my life away to join the US Army, and I did my duty for this country, but I cannot get the help I need to live my life. I gave this country everything I could give, but instead, this is how I get repaid. Dr. Schechter, all I can say is thank you for doing nothing and wasting my time.

I had SRS with Dr Schecter, in December, and i had a great experience with the Hospital, Staff and the Physical Therapy was exceptional. My results are amazing and i have no problems with width or length.im using the Orange Dilator and i can get it all the way in without discomfort or difficulty. My vagina is perfect and i am truly pleased. Dr.Schecter, and his team have changed my life and I couldn’t be more grateful and thankful. I highly recommend him and his team. Oh by the way nurse CAT is everything wonderful.

I had my top surgery over year ago, and I can confidently say the experience was great. Medically speaking, Dr. Schechter and his team were great. The team at Weiss were amazing and took great care of me and my partner. Only issues I've had have been with scheduling and communication. I've learned to be that person and pester the office if something needs to be submitted to insurance otherwise it won't get done in time. I get the feeling that he needs more staff working for him, which probably explains the chaos many other patients have experienced on the administrative side.
