I had long thoracic nerve paralysis on my right side for over a year and a half. It wouldn't heal on it's own and every single doctor I saw before Solomon told me there was nothing that could be done. One neurologist from UW Medicine told me I needed a very invasive surgery (scapulothoracic fusion) in any hope of my condition getting better. I was getting very depressed because I couldn't properly lift my arm over my head and had thought I exhausted all possible options.

It's when I met Dr. Solomon that I began to have a glimmer of hope of my thoracic nerve being treated. The operation went very smooth and the staff treated me very well pre and post op. Nerves take a while to heal so I had to wait a while to see any changes. Surely enough, after about 4 months, I progressively had less scapula winging and could start lifting my arm over my head.

Fast forward 1 year post op, and my scapula winging is completely gone and I am very nearly 100%. I got my life back by going back to my hobby of weightlifting. With my case, Dr. Solomon was a complete success and I have him to thank for that.

This doctor saw a friend and completely invalidated her chronic pain and illness and indicated she would be better served by psych. This was an avenue she’d taken already and told him that, but he continued to dismiss her and her pain. His staff was thorough and kind but his evaluation was seriously lacking, and furthermore was based on old-school, misogynistic medical practices and beliefs.
I am deeply disappointed in her experience, as I’ve heard that OHSU values their patients and experiences, but I guess they are allowing doctors to completely overstep and create uncaring and unsafe environments for their patients.

I’ve never been so discriminated by a care team as I was with Soloman and the Upper Extremity Ortho team. They wrote me off without imaging and Soloman told me I needed “therapy” instead. Then refused to allow me a second opinion within OHSU as a whole. And had their admins belittle me when I tried to schedule.
Cut to present where I have a physical diagnosis.It wasn’t therapy I needed- it was an ultrasound and MRI. Thanks Doc.
