Dr. Eshed is thorough and listens to your concerns. She gives great feedback but leaves the decision to the patient. My prayer is I won’t have to see her again after my two year observation; however, if I do I know I am in great hands.

Dr. Eshed became my doctor after my oncologist retired. So, she stepped into my care when I was very anxious about some concerning issues with an MRI and spots seen. I had been treated for stage 3 Ovarian cancer in 2017 in Virginia. So, before even seeking Dr. Eshed, a Petscan and blood work were ordered, so when I saw Dr. Eshed, she would have what she needed. My husband joined me as we went to this appointment. And with deep Thanksgiving, cancer was eliminated as a concern. So, Texas Oncology and Dr. Eshed are a blessing to my life at 60. And I am now to check in with her once a year, instead of every 6 months!

In April, 23, I was seen in the ER for abdominal pain. A CT scan was done, I was told I had ovarian cancer, and was referred to Eshed who I saw two days later. She confirmed the diagnosis, and further told me I had disease throughout my abdomen, and a nodule in the upper lobe of my right lung. I was rightfully terrified. Prior to surgery, she told me that there was a strong chance that I would come out with a colostomy bag, and that it would likely be permanent. A month after that first visit, she opened me up to remove the diseased ovaries and the cancer along the rectum, perineum, transverse colon, and omentum. I was on day 6 of the hospital stay when the pathology report from surgery was done. She came into my room to share the findings which was that there was no cancer, that on my ovaries were simply borderline tumors. My husband and were in disbelief. How could she have been so wrong? On subsequent office visits, I asked her to explain why nothing she had said had come to pass. She was short with the explanation, and somewhat dismissive. I still to this day have no idea how she had me believing I was ate up with cancer when I wasn't. Each time I saw her after surgery, the nodule in my lung was always mentioned. That was the extent of action on that separate issue. Once she moved up north, I began seeing another gyn onc. At my first visit with the new doctor, she immediately referred me to a pulmonologist. I have since been diagnosed with lung cancer. Because of Eshed's inaction, I'm one year behind on dealing with this grave matter. I wish I'd never met Helen Eshed. She has caused me so much grief and worry in the last year.

I appreciate Dr. Eshed's ever pleasant, calm demeanor, her thorough explanations, and willingness to answer questions, including repeating what she's just told us, since it often escapes me the first time. I have never felt rushed through an appointment. the nurse and other staff who assist her usually respond quickly to questions submitted in the TO "portal." My diagnosis was a shock, the treatment long and difficult at times; my husband and I are deeply grateful for her diligent care and encouragement over the past 9 months.

Dr. Eshed is a combination of brilliance, compassion, and strength. She understands all of the variables that cancer can present and she is strong enough to give her patients the truth about possible outcomes. She took the time to talk with my husband and me twice before the day of surgery. She allowed us to consider, understand and choose. At the same time, she understood how difficult the process and recovery would be both physically and emotionally. I am so grateful that Texas Oncology prides itself on providing such high quality care and that Dr. Eshed is as good a surgeon as she is.
