Hofgut Sternen hotel is one of the best hotels we have till now stayed. It in the western part of Germany. It is surrounded by the hills, all covered with big trees. The area is also known as Black Forest region. Everything here you would love to watch, smell, taste, feel, and of course purchase, whatever you can.
History of the place go back to centuries, but the route was improved when a bridal procession of a princess was passing through the area. The hotel building is entirely wooden structure from reception to waiting lounge, from bar and restaurant room to even staircase, from floor and roof to table, chairs, and bed are of solid wood. The rooms are quite cosy and comfortable. The food served in the hotel is palatable. For vegetarian food you better inquire or inform the staff in advance. The staff of the hotel is very courteous and cooperative.
There are other hotels also in the same place. There is also a cuckoo clock shop with beautiful, locally made, different size and styled cuckoo clocks. Every cuckoo clock has at least a cuckoo bird, which comes out of clock, announce the time quite loudly and goes inside the clock shutting its windows. In the area you can also visit a glass manufacturer shop selling beautiful glass artefacts.
As the hotel area is surrounded by hills covered with big trees, it is quite a good place for hikers, nature photographers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers. There is quite old train bridge, made of stones, passing through the mountains on the back side of the hotel. There is a big open ground under the bridge, where Christmas market is arranged during the season.

One of the calmest place to visit in the Black forest region. Awesome view of the Black forest, natural Waterfall nearby. We went at the start of the summer and the climatic conditions were best to suit to visit such place. Couple of cuckoo watch shops, prices were little bit higher but looks worthy of it. The glass House selling glass items were amazing but it was also a costly. The restaurant here we got indian food and it was delicious. Went for walk into the forest for some distance and it was amazing feeling. Any train passing over the bridge when you are there also adds need to see/ experience of this place.

This is a wonderful place of enchantment to stop along your way as you travel through the Black Forest. There are a couple of gift shops, a hotel and a cafeteria that makes black forest cake, right before your eyes and then of course you get to eat it! Black forest cake is one of my absolute favorites because it has chocolate cake and it is made with an all whip cream frosting! It is just divine! One of the best things was the authentic cuckoo clock factory, complete with demonstration, and of course all the walls are covered in every type and size of cuckoo clocks. We purchased one for my mother who had been wanting one for decades. We had it shipped to our home, back here in America and they hardly charged us anything extra to have it shipped and it only took about 10 days! We were told that we could have taken a little hike to a nearby waterfall but we ran out of time.

Clock factory situated in dense black forest. We got small demo in shop, explaining about history of cuckoo clock. Earlier it was pure manual, then moved to mechanical and now battery operated clocks are also available. It is said that during winter season, villagers does not have work, so they started using black forest wood to make clocks. They have variety of clocks, manual one starts from 60-70 euros, and price varies based on size and design. Most of its parts are man made. It's pricey but worthy.

Hofgut Sternen is a great way to experience the Black Forest! If you visit during Christmas, go at night, so you can see the Ravina Christmas Market lit up. There are two or three shops in the village, as well as a restaurant and hotel. I did not stay at the hotel. If you want a cuckoo clock, there is a wide selection. The prices at all the shops seemed a bit high, but the quality was excellent.

We visited this lovely shop and village while on an excursion from our Viking ship. It was well worth the visit! We bought several gifts as well as a cuckoo clock. There was a delay getting clock parts so they shipped our items in two shipments, which was very nice of them. Everything was in perfect condition when it arrived. Highly recommend a visit! The cuckoo clock is lovely too!

Quaint little village! Awesome pics of the mountains, the train. The cuckoo clocks shop had beautiful original cuckoo clocks, though pricey. The glass shop had a nice varied collection. The small restaurant served original burgers and lovely strawberry cakes, enjoyed
