It is with a heavy heart I leave this bad review! Mainly because I love Dr Wolford and he did a fantastic job on my bilateral TMJ replacement surgery. My problem is not with Dr Wolford. It is with his evil wife. We paid upfront for my surgery and when the insurance reimbursed, she kept all of it and wouldn’t return it to me. I tried and tried to get it back from her. That is a lot of money. We paid $40,000.00 for my surgery and she kept all of the reimbursement. My surgery was in 2010 and there has been no restitution. I know several orthodontists who have said that she is the reason that they no longer refer to Dr Wolford. If you are a patient or thinking about seeing him. He is fabulous but beware his wife!! She is a cunning thief!! Her name by the way is Denise and she runs the office. Do read the negative reviews (there is a theme) and proceed with caution and beware of probable insurance fraud.

The Wolfords have given me new hope for the first time in 17 years. They are the perfect mix between being extremely professional and knowledgeable but I cannot say enough things about the bedside manner. They embrace you as family and create an environment where there is an opportunity for a person to get their life back after many years of suffering. They also couldn't have been kinder to my special guest with me, who was my dad. The focused attention was incredible and Dr. Wolford immediately knew A. what was wrong with me and B. exactly what to do. What a gift that words can't describe. I cannot recommend them enough or say enough good things about my experience, thus far. Denise also does what she say she will, when she says she will. I'm getting a second lease at life with two of the best people I've crossed paths with and am forever grateful.

I have been with Dr. Wolford for over 25 years. In many ways he has helped Unfortunately a never was it by him and my jaw stays open. I can’t chew close it or sit up for more than an hour. The weight of the implant and all the teeth implants. Gravity just pulls on my TMJ causing tremendous pain. Laying down it takes most of it way. I am totally bedridden. That has made me very weak. I have tried several times to speak to Larry or Denise with one response saying she would call me tomorrow but never has. With Wilford’s reputation and me being his patient for over 25 years he has not done anything to help. I really liked him and have never seen that sign of him. I am hurt. and just wish he would steer me in the right direction if he isn’t going to do it. Being world renounced you think he would know were to go. A huge mistake was made and there is someone who could fix it. I have had over 100 surgical procedures from an auto accident so I am dealing with a tremendous amount of health problems This is just terrible.

So I'm now 1 year post op and I think it's time to give this place what it deserves.
I came to Dr. Wolford all the way from Egypt for consultation after I had a botched surgery in my country, Dr. Wolford was very thorough regarding the diagnosis and the possible treatment plans.
10 Months later Dr. Wolford performed major reconstructive surgery on me that included: Bilateral TJR, lefort redo, septoplasty, genioplasty along with removing the old surgery hardware.
Post surgery I had the best post op care from Dr. Wolford, had zero complications, zero nerve damage and have restored my jaw function.
Denise as well was very helpful and easy to deal with pre and post surgery and she made me feel like home during my stay and she even invited me to spend the 4th of July with her and Dr. Wolford 🙂 .
This office has made such a positive impact on my life and I will be forever grateful for that.
Thank you Dr. Wolford & Denise

Dr Larry Wolford did not diagnose me correctly at all. In fact he didn’t diagnose anything. What he did was sell me an unnecessary and extremely expensive operation. I paid him $65K (out of pocket) to replace my jaw joints and perform double jaw surgery. This surgery made my actual problem profoundly worse. It is unclear if I will ever regain the full function of my jaw. Do your research. Dr Wolford has a history of misleading and over diagnosing his patients. He is not to be trusted. I read all his reviews and the ones that said to ignore the negative ones. I wish I had paid attention to the negative ones. I have had consults with other equally qualified surgeons and even though they will not come right out and say it, they have let me know, in so many words, that he is absolutely to be avoided. If you have a poor outcome he will NOT take responsibility. This man has no ethics. You will be ON YOUR OWN. Stay away from this surgeon!
Just to clarify something for you all, Wolford does NOT have “office staff” he does NOT have a “secretary”. He has a wife. Her name is Denise. That’s it. There is no one else. No guardrails. Nothing in place to protect you.

I recently underwent jaw surgery, and my experience was a mix of highs and lows. While I am pleased with the surgical outcome and the skill of my surgeon, there were significant shortcomings in the support provided by the surgeon's office and the hospital.
On the positive side, the surgeon demonstrated efficiency and skill in performing the procedure. I am healing well and he left me with no adverse side effects (as of now).
However, my interactions with the surgeon's office staff, particularly the secretary, were frustrating and disappointing. Important financial information was omitted, causing unnecessary stress and almost jeopardizing my surgery date due to payment complications. Additionally, the secretary's inappropriate comments about patients with pain medication addictions were unprofessional and insensitive. Patient confidentiality and empathy should be paramount in any medical setting.
Speaking of pain addictions, the Dr. only prescribed me 30 pain pills. While at the Hospital I took one ever four hours. This means he only gave me enough medication for 5-7 days. I have no history of addiction, drug, or alcohol abuse, so his hesitation was unfounded. He also forgot to mention a few things. For starters I can hear the prosthetics in my jaw clink when I move (even walking, the up and down makes them jingle).
Moreover, the hospital care I received from Baylor Scott and White was unsatisfactory. he nurses were always late in responding to my calls (up to 25 minutes) which was annoying as my medication was only given after I called and asked for it. They also kept putting new IVs in me too (six in five days!). He was an efficient surgeon though and as of now I have no major adverse side effects. I would recommend him as a surgeon, but not his secretary or Baylor Scott as the best people to work with.

About Dr Larry Wolford:
I had double jaw surgery with him more than a year ago. The doctor is SUPERB! Why I am saying that?
Well, my case was a revision. I had a double jaw surgery in 2006 with a different surgeon. After the first surgery, Occlusion was great but I was unhappy with my gummy smile and long lower face.
However, I did a huge mistake after the first surgery, I had a procedure to add gonial jaw implants made of MEDPOR .(never use medpor!)
I am a doctor myself (not a surgeon; psychiatrist). So I did an extensive research looking for the most experienced surgeons...
I visited different surgeons (including the famous doctor in Santa Barbara, CA and Dr. Raffini in Italy). None of them wanted to touch my case because of the Medpor implants. Also, the doctor in SB said my jaw was too thin and it would be too dangerous to cut it. I also send email request to other doctors but they would deny my case as soon as they hear the word "MEDPOR".
Well, Dr. Wolford said he could do the surgery. I didn't believe him at first. I thought he would eventually dismiss my case... Well, he did the surgery very well. My occlusion is normal. The gummy smile was corrected with the Le fort 1 cut and he had to cut lower jaw to match the lower jaw with the upper jaw. He was able to cut through the MEDPOR and reattached it on my lower jaw (UNBELIEVABLE).
I surely believe dr. Wolford has negative reviews. He has decades of work. But just keep those reviews with a grain of salt. Probably those cases with a negative outcome were cases that 99% of surgeons would not even dare to touch it...
So yes, he deals with the most complicated cases on a daily basis. When I was in his office I saw patients that have had 3-6 jaw surgeries before heading to his office...
I myself was intrigued by his negative reviews but once I visited his office and understood the type of patient he usually handles I could understand things in a better way.
