Awful experience. Don’t think he ever updated his knowledge or educated himself on current research. Claimed that hormones balance out within 2-3 days of stopping hormonal contraceptives Pressured me into getting the nexplanon as he told me I should jump to the next contraceptive as soon as possible, and I am still dealing with the consequences. Just so others are aware, you’re apparently supposed to wait at least three months between contraceptives to make sure hormones balance out before moving on to the next. My fault for trusting him. His fault for spreading misinformation. Due to what I assume is negligence, I am experiencing health concerns and I may struggle to have children in the future. He lacks professionalism as well. Said I was not allowed to be prescribed my original contraceptive until I received a pelvic exam. He insulted my tattoo and proceeded to cut into it to remove the nexplanon even though that is not where the site was. He fished in my arm for 15 mins, struggling, because he couldn’t get it out. I assume it’s because he cared more about trying to damage my tattoo rather than removing the nexplanon. While I am sure he may have been good at his job in the past, he did not provide me good service and I am sure at least half of the reasoning is because he retires September 2024. You hope you can trust your doctor as you think they would know better. They studied that topic for years in medical school. He lacked passion and no longer cared for his patients. Don’t trust this doctor and don’t get the nexplanon. It shouldn’t be on the market.

Super thankful for Dr Dan Dorough and his entire team. I always felt like they have my best interest at heart and I felt safe entrusting him with my delivery. Experiencing preempclasia was not fun but I'm grateful for Dr Dan's expertise!

Dr Dorough is the only person recommended by anyone i talked to in the Fresno/Clovis area. While he did a good job with the delivery of my son, I have never met a medical provider with worse bedside manner. He is truly one of the rudest people I have ever met and I cried in the car out of frustration after every single prenatal appointment I had (and for anyone who has ever been pregnant you know there are a lot of them). He was rude about my weight gain (literally saying, and I quote, “wow you are really packing on the pounds, aren’t you?”), dismissed all of my questions, interrupted me mid-question to answer the questions he thought I was asking (spoiler: it wasn’t what I was asking) and I had to learn to advocate for myself more than anyone should have to do with their medical provider. He was rude to his office staff and one time came into my appointment and said, “These people are driving me crazy.” He also told me none of the other doctors in his network were anywhere near as good of doctors as he is, but that they would “get the job done” if I happened to go into labor when he wasn’t on call. However, I suppose it was lucky that he was on call when I went into labor because the Clovis Community Hospital staff were negligent and I almost didn’t get my epidural in time due to nobody checking on me for literal hours while I waited in triage. So luckily Dr Dan used his pompous rudeness for good to be completely unkind to the hospital staff so that something was actually accomplished. We moved out of the state two months after my son was born and the sub-standard care we received both by Dr Dan and the hospital were the last straw for getting us out of the state. It is mind blowing that such a rude human being is not only a practicing PREGNANT LADY doctor, but that he is the only one recommended in the entire county. So I suppose that if you have to give birth in Fresno go with this guy, but just know that he is rude, disrespectful and in a lot of ways just truly the worst.

You wait WEEKS or MONTHS for your SCHEDULED appointment only to be there at least 2 hours mostly waiting for the DR to see you. The place is clean and updated but my time is valuable too and I don’t appreciate waiting when I have an appointment. Perhaps this office over books itself and that is just wrong. Quality over quantity is what’s more important.

Dr. Dorough is Dr. Thorough in my book! He’s an awesome MD who takes time to explain everything in detail and makes me feel comfortable knowing that cares enough to do so. He appears to be passionate about his job and at the same time appears to really care about his patients well being. I am super glad to have been referred to him; he has by far been the best MD I’ve ever had! Thanks Dr. Dan Dorough!

Dr Dorough failed to sign my wifes prescription for pain medication after surgery
It was late afternoon when we discovered this we called his office we were told he would be in the office in 30 minutes for just a few minutes we explained it would take 1 hour in traffic to get there. They told my wife she could come in the morning to get it signed so now she has to get through the night without pain medication after here surgery.

I never felt rushed during any appointment with Dr. Dorough. He took time to explain options and procedures that were available to me and answered any and all questions that I had.
