My brother, Donald, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May, 2021. After we received this devastating news we were referred to the Clovis Community Cancer Institute. We were so blessed to have been assigned to Dr. Mansoor Alam to guide us through this 1-1/2 year journey. He was our guardian angel advocating for my brother every step of the way. He was honest about the difficulty of the chemotherapy, never promising a cure, but giving us hope for a favorable outcome. There were many setbacks which delayed his chemo treatments--blood clot in the lung, low platelet count, low potassium, at times too weak to receive the scheduled every 2 week treatment, angiogram which showed blocked arteries and surgery placing 3 stents!
After 16 months Dr Alam presented Donald's case to the surgical board and they accepted him as a candidate for a WHIPPLE procedure. We were referred to Dr Chenwi Ambe, Surgical Oncologist who informed us the portal vein would need to be reconstructed by Dr. Kamell Eckroth-Bernard, Vascular Surgeon. On November 29, 2022, his surgery was performed and successful due to the expertise of the surgeons performing this very delicate procedure. A follow up PetScan shows no evidence of cancer in his body—Thank God!
Dr. Alam was encouraging, flexible, knowledgeable and knew us by sight. We were not just a number, he genuinely cared about Donald's outcome and adjusted his treatment accordingly. We are grateful for Dr Alam as he continues to follow Donald's recovery.

My mother, last year in September, at age 65 was placed on a ventilator due to a thyroid nodule affecting her breathing as it was closing her trachea. She was sedated and a biopsy was done and the results revealed it was cancer. Dr. Alam assumed her cancer care. Dr. Alam
made a miracle of my mother, she was really ill and sedated for about 3 months. She woke up to find out she had cancer and was going to start her 3 chemo treatment, which she approved of, since we had to approve the first 2 treatments. Dr Alam did let us know that her cancer is curable, but because she was really ill, she may not make it if she had the chemo, or if she didn't. We took a chance to give our mother an opportunity to wake up and decide on her own. After the chemo treatments, she got really sick, but Dr Alam new how to adjust the type of chemo medications she needed for her condition to try and get the best outcome. We are so please with Dr. Alam, my mother was about 160 pounds before she got sick, by the time she was feeling better she was at 98 pounds. After 9 months, my mother is walking, and able to be independent on most thing for her quality of life. Her cancer is in remission, and her weight is up to 117 lbs. She is improving slowly, but surely. We are happy to have our mother doing well, Dr Alam gave us hope and we did not give up. He put his best experience to my mother's health condition and if he was not sure of something, he requested expertise from specialized doctors. He did not hesitate to try what he thought was best. Our appreciation goes to Dr Alam and god, in the recovery and treatment for our mother. To this day, she is doing really good, she is a strong women and she went through a lot. The thoughts and prayers of family and friends really lifted our spirits to not lose hope. Thank you Dr Alam and to all the nurses and doctors associated with Clovis Community Hospital.

Dr. Alam is a caring, compassionate doctor. He approaches the fight with cancer with care, concern and superb knowledge. He encourages questions at all points and answers them with care...he always takes the time to make sure I have a good understanding of any issues, which eases the mind. I am blessed by Jesus to be in Dr. Alam's care. I know my health is his top priority. He treats me with respect and dignity, which I value greatly. His staff is top notch as well.
